   "It is my intention in this book to show Irish and UK bred Irish Wolfhounds at their best over the past ten generations or so". The author's intention is to give breeders the means of making more informed breeding choices: "Over the years new breeders have written to ask me if I had a photograph of a particular Wolfhound that appeared in their hound' pedigree. Often I knew that I did have such a photograph but as time passed it became more and more difficult to locate such photographs. It was safe to assume that photographs collected by other breeders were being dispersed in the same way. Realising the importance of photographs, especially when the hound itself can no longer be seen, it seemed to me a worthwhile exercise to gather and publish what photographs were still available. I hope that the availability of this collection of photographs will prove of benefit to breeders and to the future of the breed."
